Spend some time exploring around these settlements which are wonderful examples of the way of life of high country Nepali people. Travel and tourism Mt. Dhaulagiri
in the world. It forms the eastern anchor of the Dhaulagiri Himal, a subrange
of the Himalaya in the Dhawalagiri Zone
of north central Nepal
. It lies northwest of Pokhara
, an important regional town and tourist center. Across the deep gorge of the Kali Gandaki
to the east lies the Annapurna
Himal, home to Annapurna I, one of the other eight-thousanders. Dhaulagiri means "White Mountain".
Notable Features
Computations by Lt. William Spencer Webb from surveys started in 1808 indicated that Dhaulagiri was the highest known mountain in the world. This lasted for 30 years before Dhaulagiri's place was taken by Kangchenjunga
.In terms of rise above local terrain, Dhaulagiri is, in fact, almost unparalleled in the world. For example, it rises 7000 m over the Kali Gandaki gorge to the southeast in about 30km of horizontal distance. The Kali Gandaki is especially dramatic since Dhaulagiri and Annapurna both stand near the river, giving a unique example of two Eight-thousanders facing each other over a deep valley.
The South and West faces of Dhaulagiri both feature massive drops; each rises over 4000 meters from its base, and each has been the site of epic climbs (see the Timeline).
Mt.Everest
Mount Everest - also called Qomolangma Peak (Tibetan: ཇོ་མོ་གླང་མ), Mount Sagarmāthā (Nepali: सगरमाथा), Chajamlungma (Limbu), Zhumulangma Peak (Chinese: 珠穆朗玛峰 Zhūmùlǎngmǎ Fēng) or Mount Chomolungma - is the highest mountain on Earth above sea level, and the highest point on the Earth's continental crust, as measured by the height above sea level of its summit, 8,848 metres (29,029 ft). The mountain, which is part of the Himalaya range in Asia, is located on the border between Sagarmatha Zone, Nepal, and Tibet, China.
In 1856, the Great Trigonometric Survey of India established the first published height of Everest, then known as Peak XV, at 29,002 ft (8,840 m). In 1865, Everest was given its official English name by the Royal Geographical Society upon recommendation of Andrew Waugh, the British Surveyor General of India at the time. Chomolungma had been in common use by Tibetans for centuries, but Waugh was unable to propose an established local name because Nepal and Tibet were closed to foreigners.
The highest mountain in the world attracts well-experienced mountaineers as well as novice climbers who are willing to pay substantial sums to professional mountain guides to complete a successful climb. The mountain, while not posing substantial technical climbing difficulty on the standard route (other eight-thousanders such as K2 or Nanga Parbat are much more difficult), still has many inherent dangers such as altitude sickness, weather and wind. By the end of the 2008 climbing season, there had been 4,102 ascents to the summit by about 2,700 individuals.[4] Climbers are a significant source of tourist revenue for Nepal, whose government also requires all prospective climbers to obtain an expensive permit, costing up to US $ 25,000 per person.[5] By the end of 2009 Everest had claimed 216 lives,[4] including eight who perished during a 1996 storm high on the mountain. Conditions are so difficult in the death zone that most corpses have been left where they fell. Some of them are visible from standard climbing routes.[6]
Mountain Flight
POKHARA: Nepal Tourism Year 2011 is approaching near, and Tara Air has started mountain flights with a Pilates Porter. It said it launched the flight to provide sightseeing facility to tourists so that they could feel the beauty of the mountains and the scenery of Pokhara. Tourists can see the beautiful ranges of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Manaslu mountain ranges within five minutes after the aircraft taking off from Pokhara airport.
Tourism entrepreneurs said the scheme would prolong the stay period of tourists. The airlines had kept a Pilates Porter in Pokhara for mountain flight. Airlines staffer Manjari Shrestha said the company has plans to add one more Pilates Porter shortly. The airline has already started mountain flights from Kathmandu. According to Tara Air, it could add more aircraft if the demand for mountain flights increases. The tourism entrepreneurs are also become happy after the airlines started the mountain flights. Nepal Tourism Board former member Basudev Tripathi said it was good chance to introduce the locality to tourists from close quarters. He opined that it would promote the tourism trade of the area. Sharing his experience of the mountain flight, Tripathi said,’’ We saw not only the beauty of the eastern part of Kaski but also enjoyed the view of Annapurna and Manaslu ranges from very near.’’
Nepal Tours and Travel Agents’ Association western region coordinator Pashupati Sharma opined that the airlines should continue the mountain flight by fixing reasonable price for domestic and foreign tourists. He added,’’A bad message would be conveyed if the service is halted in the middle. So, the airlines should give continuity to it.’’ Captain of Tara Air Prafulla Baidhya informed that the Air craft is very safe. Seven people can fly in the Pilates at once. Baidhya said that it was convenient not only for taking photographs but for skydiving also. He said that they can operate rescue flights in nearby areas also. Tara Air chief Ram Lamichhane said the airline would also operate charter flights to Langtang, Jomsom, Dolpa, Baglung, Dhorpatan and Manang aside from other areas. The travellers get a breakfast package after each mountain flight. The flight has fixed $140 per person for half-an-hour flight over the mountain ranges and $55 dollar per person for a 15-minute flight for sight seeing Pokhara area for foreign tourists.
Meanwhile, the cost is NRs 5500 for Nepali nationals and Indian nationals for half-an-hour flight and NRs 3500 for a 15-minute flight.

After Dhulikhel the road descends into the beautiful Panchkhal Valley. A turnoff at Lamidanda, around 12km from Dhulikhel, leads for 9km on a tarmac road to Palanchowk, where there is a famously beautiful black stone image of the goddess Bhagwati (a form of Durga, itself a terrifying form of Parvati). About five minutes' drive beyond the town of Panchkhal a dirt road takes off to the left, giving road access to the Helambu region.
About 8km later you arrive at Dolalghat, a thriving town at the confluence of the Indrawati and Sun Kosi Rivers and the departure point for many rafting trips. The turn-off to Jiri is another 14km away, on the right. Lamosangu is a few kilometres after the Jiri turn-off, on the Arniko Hwy. North of Lamosangu is a hydroelectric plant with a tedious military checkpoint.

Behind the Vishnu shrine of Ichangu Narayan, northwest of Swayambhunath in the Kathmandu Valley, rises the 'Abode of Snows' (Himalaya in Sanskrit), a magnet for trekkers and mountaineers the world over. Only in Nepal can you trek for weeks without the need even for a tent. No longer does your name have to be Tenzing or Hillary to set foot in Everest Base Camp. Out of the mountains, get your adrenaline kick from world-class white-water rafting, kayaking and mountain biking, or from the spine-tingling sight of your first tiger or rhino in Chitwan National Park.
Nepal is not just a bungee-jumping, apple-pie eating Shangri-la. It's also one of the poorest countries on earth. However, many visitors, drawn to Nepal by the promise of adventure, leave equally enchanted by the friendliness and openness of the Nepali people.
From the natural rhythm you ease into on a trek to the rhythm of a tabla drum at one of Kathmandu's palace restaurants, Nepal is an amazingly diverse country that offers something for everyone. One journey through this land is rarely enough. The first thing many people do after a visit is start planning the next one.

Nepal - is one of the poorest countries in the world. It suffers from corruption; the economics is in a deplorable state and human rights are violated. Tourism in this country plays a very important role. Nepal is very popular among the professional travelers and bag packers. It attracts tourists by both: ancient history and unbelievably beautiful nature, rafting is very popular there.
Quite recently, there has appeared a very special kind of tourism - rural or village tourism. It gives a possibility to get acquainted with probably the main treasures of the country: culture, customs and traditions. As a rule, tourists in Nepal repose on the specially built resorts and singly made tents. Rural tourism allows them to get in the everyday life and culture of the local residents.
The majority of the population in Nepal lives in the villages and a tourist has a possibility to stay in one of those. He will be able not only to watch side wise the life in the village, but also to participate directly in it. The way of life of resident population doesn't change, influenced by the tourists, it remains the same. Tourists eat the dishes common to the ordinary residents, they have the possibility to take participation in the rural living.
There is one more important reason why this kind of tourism compares favorably with the traditional one. Money, spent by tourists is given straight to the population. If the rural tourism develops further, it will be able to play an important role in country's development, decreasing the poverty level. Local administration greatly supports this kind of tourism.
Tourism Council plans to launch a project on the forest planting and environmental protection, in order to give the tourist industry incentives for development. However, it is worth mentioning that specialists see a particular danger in rural tourism: it can destructively affect the culture and way of life of the local population.

Nepal is the most beautiful and stunning Himalayan country in the world. Though small in size, it is known in the world as a nation of color and contrasts-a hidden Shangri-La of nature, culture and adventure. In the countryside the way of life is still traditional, nature is at its best, high mountains and lush valleys are ideal places for traveling and mountaineering, flora and fauna invites a nature lover for a rendezvous with them. Nepal is rich with traditions of art and culture and Kathmandu, the capital city, is a treasure house of ancient art and culture. travel in everest region or khumbu Himalaya range. the must popular traveling area in Nepal it would probably be the must popular destination but it is more difficult to get to Solu Khumbu than to the Annapurna area. to get near Everest, you must either walk for 10 days or fly to Lukla, a remote mountain airstrip where flights are notoriously unreliable. Solu Khumbu is justifiably famous, not only for its proximity to the world's highest mountain (8848 m.), but also for its Sherpa villages and monasteries. The primary goal of an Everest trek is the Everest base camp at an elevation of about 5340 meters. But you cannot see Everest from the base camp, so most trekkers climb Kala Pattar, an unassuming 5545-meter bump on the southern flank of Pumori (7145 m.). Other than the problem of access, the other major complication to an Everest trek is the high likelihood of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). This potentially deadly disease, commonly known as altitude sickness, is caused by climbing too quickly to a high elevation. Be sure to read the section on mountain sickness in the Health & First Aid chapter if you are planning an Everest trek. If you suffer symptoms of altitude sickness and cannot go to base camp, you can still make a worth while trek to less ambitious destinations such as Namche Bazaar, the administrative Headquarters of the Khumbu region; Khumjung or Thame, more typical Sherpa villages; or Tyangboche Monastery. From Tengboche you will have an excellent view of Everest and its more spectacular neighbor Ama Dablam (6856 meters).
